Will, this was an amazing post, although I have to confess I wasn’t conversant with all the tech references you mentioned. I am still thrilled I can both read UTK and watch MLB Network on my phone…!
Thanks, doc. I tried to make this make sense for people who haven't used the device. Its groundbreaking and yes, this is one of those MLB.com on iPhone moments
When movies on iTunes was a new thing, a “buy it once” pledge was in place—if you bought digital rights to a film, which later was released in a “better” (HD, then) version, your rights were upgraded to the new version, automatically.
Anything like that with VP and 3D versions of movies—if I owned digital rights to “Avatar” or “Avengers”, would a VP get me upgraded to 3D versions of those films—or does Disney get a second transaction with me?
Good question, George. I don't know as I don't have any of those. The Disney + app added 3D movies with no further cost or change. I don't see them in the standard app, which makes sense. (I have a tendency to rent movies rather than buy, so my library is small.)
Really thorough and differentiated. May I point out the headline has a typo? Should be 2/3/24...
Fixed. I guess seeing the future happened in the past?
🤔
