Bryce Harper had a heck of a season, carrying his team into and through the playoffs, ending just shy of a hunk of metal and a nearly sure MVP had they won. He did it all with a sprained elbow, putting him and his team in place to make a very tough decision that has to be made early in the off-season.
While Dave Dombrowski and Sam Fuld will focus on the unlikely rumors of Trea Turner or another of the big-dollar shortstops, Harper and his team, including Scott Boras’s braintrust, will have Harper checked by Dr. Neal ElAttrache as soon as this week to determine the next step. That could include Tommy John surgery, which for a position player often takes about six months to return.
