Being The Pirates, Moving The Rays

The Pirates aren’t often much fun, but 2024 showed that years of being bad can lead to good things. The decision to pick Paul Skenes over Dylan Crews in last year’s draft looks smart for now, though both could have great careers and Crews is less likely to be injured. Adding Skenes to Jared Jones and a collection of good young pitchers like Bubba Chandler on the way puts this team into a window of possible success, especially in the NL Central. Skenes’ ROY win takes a year off that window, so let’s look at how the Bucs could win now.
