As the Texas Rangers go up 2-1 in the World Series, with two games on tap for today and tomorrow, the team isn’t settled. Max Scherzer and Adolis Garcia both left the game and could have injuries that require replacement.
Garcia is the more problematic. His injury was clear. After another hard swing, Garcia grabbed at his side. The immediate worry was an oblique strain, but watch closely where he grabs in this clip. Garcia reaches back as far as he can go, then down. As he gets to first, he bends over, straight down and reaches again to his lower back. The bed is telling. He’s trying to take stress off the lower back, not stabilize from an issue like an oblique. The external obliques go pretty low, but this could be something like a psoas or a simple spinal erector.
